Welcome to History 258 Online, a history of the African American experience. This class provides students with an excellent opportunity to learn the long history, accomplishments and contributions of African Americans in the United States. African American history is rich and vibrant. Upon completion of the course students will have an in-depth understanding of the black freedom struggle. Some of the areas that students will explore include:

  • Development of Slave Trade in Africa
  • Slavery in the Colonies & States
  • Slave Revolts & Rebellions
  • Civil War & Reconstruction
  • Civil Rights Movement
  • African American Women's Contributions to U.S. History
  • Election of the First Black President

Without a doubt black people in America have made many important contributions to the history of the United States. Yet this history is often times left out of U.S. survey courses. Come and take African American History online through Chemeketa Community College and learn why the election of the first black President of the United States is a monumental achievement that was built on the blood, sweat and tears of African American heroes.

Spa Management Certificate of Completion

The new Spa Management Certificate program focuses on the supervisory skills needed to manage a spa facility that offer a variety of treatments including those that depilate, massage and beautify the human body. The certificate will you to oversee and direct the business aspects of a spa facility and to supervise treatment specialists such as massage therapists, nutritionists, skin therapists and estheticians.

Our spa management courses focus on related business, operational, and sales aspects of spa supervision, including inventory, sanitation & hygiene and operational management. And also employee training and development, accounting, reporting and business promotion.

Fall Schedule 2009

Chemeketa Online has released the Fall online schedule of classes.


Chemeketa Online Summer Office Hours

Beginning Friday, June 26, the Tech Hub and Chemeketa Online offices will be closed on Fridays and will remain so through September 4. This brings the Tech Hub into alignment with the campus-wide Friday closure policy in place for this summer.

Telephone tech support will continue to be available 24/7. Calls received outside of normal business hours will be forwarded to our Presidium tech support service. Online help chat and access to the eLearn knowledge base will also be available 24/7 at the Chemeketa Online Support Center: online.chemeketa.edu/support/center.

Tech Hub staff will be available for consultations and support Monday through Thursday from 8:00–5:00.
