Intro to Substantive Law and Oregon Criminal Code Introduces the origin and structure of common-law crimes, case decisions, and the development of statutory crimes. Reviews the amendments of the constitution which protect citizens during criminal inquiries, introduces the elements of a crime and the types of affirmative defenses presented at a criminal proceeding. Defines and provides distinctions between criminal and civil law, criminal court procedures, criminal law case reading, federal and state law, and selected Oregon criminal code sections.
