Course Description: Examines the relationship between rock music and society. Emphasizes the musical and lyrical significance of rock music as contemporary social commentary.
Performance Based Learner Outcomes: To provide an understanding of rock music as a form of social commentary and a mirror of the society for which it emanates.

Methods of Instruction: Guided listening and lecture/discussion on how musical and lyrical elements of style are a mirror and/or shaper of our society, both nationally and internationally. Part of the listening assignments in the library are videos showing the music, social trends, and political perspectives.
Methods of Evaluation: Two midterms, final, oral report or written paper, and weekly listening assignments in the library.
